The Sixth Form Scholar Award
Alongside our student leadership opportunities, we are proud to offer the Sixth Form Scholar Award – a programme that recognises the wider contributions our students make to the Academy and beyond. This prestigious award is designed to celebrate character, commitment, and personal growth, ensuring our students leave us not only with excellent academic results but also with the skills, values, and experiences that set them apart.
To gain the award, students must complete all seven of the following elements:
- Volunteering – giving time and service to support others in the Academy or the wider community.
- Prefect Duties – carrying out responsibilities that contribute to the smooth running of the Academy and acting as role models for younger students.
- Work Experience – completing placements that build employability skills and provide valuable insight into future careers.
- Attendance – maintaining excellent attendance, reflecting the dedication and reliability that universities and employers expect.
- Mentoring – offering guidance and encouragement to younger students, helping to strengthen our supportive school culture.
- Completion of Two MOOCs – engaging in Massive Open Online Courses to extend knowledge, curiosity, and independent study skills.
- Charity – taking part in fundraising and charitable initiatives, developing empathy and a sense of social responsibility.
The Benefits
The Sixth Form Scholar Award is about shaping well-rounded young adults who are prepared for life beyond school. It enables students to develop resilience, initiative, leadership, and independence – qualities that make a lasting impression on universities, apprenticeship providers, and employers. More importantly, it helps our students to grow into confident, compassionate and capable individuals who are ready to make a positive impact in the real world.
